Regarding "Van strikes bicyclist" (Jan. 21, Page B-3): I again make my case for bicyclist facing on-coming traffic instead riding with the traffic.

According to The Bee, Oakdale police said the bicyclist was heading west along the side of the road, and the van was heading in the same direction. The white van's passenger mirror hit the bicyclist. He was knocked off his bicycle, suffering injuries to shoulder and arm.

He is fortunate to still be alive!

It just does not make sense to not be able to see what's coming your way. The law needs to be changed.
