Modesto students moved for no real reason

The Modesto City Schools board is not making decisions in the best interest of students and families by changing school boundaries.

We moved into our neighborhood solely so our children could attend a particular school. We have been involved in and supported this school and our son goes there. Now, largely because of pressure by the California Interscholastic Federation in regards to athletics, they are going to shift innocent kids around to schools they have not planned or hoped to attend.

Has the school board considered that many of us have other children in high school and now will have two or more children in different schools? Have they considered the effect this short notice will have on these eighth- graders who are already facing a big transition to high school? If they insist on doing this, it should at least be put off until the 2014 school year to give everyone a chance to get used to the idea. Ruining a child's high school hopes and dreams for football?

You should all be ashamed of yourselves!
