Our region is truly fortunate to have among us Curtis Grant, a Modesto native and a professor emeritus in the Department of History at California State University, Stanislaus. A few months back, Big Valley Grace Community Church presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award, followed by the American Legion, which, in similar fashion, honored him with its 2012 Citizen of the Year award.
Since his 1998 retirement, following 32 years of exemplary service in our department, Grant has continued to enrich Stanislaus County with participation in such educational endeavors as the important American Heritage Scholarship Series, which encourages young people to better understand and appreciate the U.S. Constitution. Grant, who holds a Ph.D. in history from Stanford, remains to us a valued colleague whose relationship with our department is laced with good humor and respect. It is in this vein that we add our praise for his well-deserved kudos, take pride in his accomplishments, and wish him well in his efforts on behalf of his community and nation.
Never miss a local story.
