House Speaker John Boehner accuses President Barack Obama of not being specific about spending cuts, but he probably did not read the section of the plan sent to him on that topic. In return, he sends an ambiguous, vague plan that insults anyone's intelligence. He says spending reduction is the way to solve the issue, but he ignores the fact that Republicans started a 12-year war that had no funding.
He also ignores the fact that Republicans have institutionalized spending programs in defense that were not needed or wanted by the military. When we go off of the fiscal cliff, we can credit those who refuse to face reality for whatever reason they can contrive. Boehner is showing no leadership skill in this matter. When past situations have demanded that we all stand up and do more, we have done it for the good of the nation. Republicans have shown that they no longer accept responsibility for participation in securing our national position and they would give up the 98 percent for the 2 percent.
