Drone strikes are bad policy. Offensive drones violate U.S. and international laws of sovereignty; they kill civilians as well as militants and now, Pakistan, an erstwhile ally, has a drone. How will they use it?
The Obama administration has an ongoing kill list of suspected members of al-Qaida, even killing suspected U.S. citizens without due process. Pakistan is angry because the U.S. is sending over drones repeatedly without Pakistan's approval. The president is committing acts of war without congressional approval; there's never been a vote for or against drones.
These drones aren't only killing "suspected" militants; they're killing civilians and children, too. As a result, U.S. soldiers in the Middle East are now targets of attack. Pakistan has its own drone. How long will it be before there are armed foreign drones flying over Washington, D.C., or Los Angeles with the "enemies" of Pakistan or Iran in its crosshairs?
