Two questions about Gray

Your endorsement of Adam Gray for Assembly (Sept. 30) raises a couple of questions.

No. 1, does being a lowly part-time classroom tutor really "pave the way" for Gray to call himself a lecturer-adviser? "Lecturer" is a defined faculty position, for which Gray lacks the most basic qualifications. The chancellor's office at UC Merced has stated in writing that Gray is not a faculty member or a lecturer there.

No. 2, while you acknowledge Gray's ties to public employee unions and express reservations about that connection, you gloss over the implications of those ties. The unions are spending a fortune on Gray's campaign. These are the same unions that are bankrupting cities in California and that are bringing the state to the brink of bankruptcy.
