In the letter "Believer explains the Mormon Faith" (Oct. 12), the writer shares that Joseph Smith and the "articles of Faith" states ... "mankind may be saved by obedience to the law." The Bible says it is by faith and grace that we are saved, not by our works... Eph. 2:8-9 and Titus 3:5 and that the law is to bring us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith ... Gal. 3:24.
The Mormon church claims that until they came along, that all other churches were wrong and corrupt, and that salvation is found only in the LDS church. Jesus said that His church would not fail and has been around since Pentecost... Matt. 16:18. The Bible warns not to add to its teaching ... Rev. 22:18 and Deut. 4:2 ... The Mormon church has added three other books of doctrine. It's possible that an individual in the Mormon church may have a personal relationship with Jesus and be saved, but those who keep and practice the teaching and doctrines of the LDS are not Christians.
