Our farm has been in my husband's family for more than 100 years. After my husband returned from World War II and graduated from U.C. Davis, we settled on our river-bottom farm and raised our seven children. Over the past few years we have been more and more concerned that the family farms have become threatened as many farmland acres have been taken over by subdivisions, even though the land was supposed to be protected by agricultural zoning.
We are not radical outsiders. We love our land, our way of life and we get a thrill out of seeing our crops and animals thrive. We want to preserve farmland for future generations. We do not look at our property to cash in on for a subdivision or a mall.
Vote "yes" on Merced County's Measure C to keep our productive valley green.
