While it is great to see so much interest in the Oak Valley Hospital District Board elections, I'm concerned about the financial and health care knowledge of some candidates.
The hospital's annual operating budget is almost $75 million. The health care industry is heavily regulated. The financing of the new hospital is incredibly complex and just 50 percent complete. We need board leaders who understand the challenges. We need someone who is transparent and willing to ask and answer tough questions.
The only candidate who has openly and willingly chosen to do so is Belinda Abell. Her Web site tells all about the building and also answers voter's questions. Let's stick with a leader who has brought us this far and knows how to finish the job. Belinda has a reputation for finishing what she starts. She is determined and tenacious.
