The realignment of the Patterson Road-McHenry Avenue intersection by Al's Furniture has been completed and all parties should be patted on the back. Most of the road work was done on the shoulders or off site, which resulted in a minimum of inconvenience to us motorists. The few times I was held up were of short duration.
Rich Holmer, the city manager who vetoed the routing of traffic, should be commended as it would have been a nightmare had traffic been diverted through Riverbank. The extra miles traveled by the cars diverted through Riverbank plus the idling of engines waiting for the signal would have added to our already nasty summer air quality. Hopefully Al's Furniture saw an increase in business or at least exposure as all cars had to stop near their property instead of zipping around the curve. The entire project seemed to go more smoothly and was completed in less time than originally forecasted. The end result appears to be worth the wait.
