Animal cruelty, which of course is always perpetrated by people, I hope is still frowned upon by society. Though civilized society is quickly becoming endangered, cruelty proposed and then actively done by your local government should be the basis for public outcry. The city of Riverbank is rounding up cats at Jacob Myers Park and taking them to the animal shelter. Many of these cats are success stories of the trap-neuter- return method which is proven to be the most humane method of cat overpopulation control.
Many of these colony cats now on death row are already fixed and vaccinated, through efforts of local caring people, and are just living out their short lives. It is not about liking or disliking cats. These are once domestic animals that have been put in this predicament by us. They are not evil, and they are not for us to kill. The TNR method works at lowering the numbers of these feral cats and dumped pet cats. Removing them simply creates room for a new colony to move into its place.
