Thank you to The Bee for printing truth on marijuana. Like alcohol and tobacco, habitual use of marijuana will have consequences whether it is legal or not.
Is it necessary to change well established laws because so many choose to ignore them? Shouldn't laws exist to create healthy, productive citizens rather than manipulate them for tax income? What honest doctor would recommend smoking as an avenue to health?
I was a marijuana smoker for many years. It was a bad habit that eroded my excitement for life. After finally becoming bored with the daily routine of smoking I quit, and my life has completely changed. My neglected relationships with family are important to me again.
Let those who wish to smoke get their card, as California already allows, but please don't confuse the younger generation by legalizing marijuana as if this makes it OK. We need focused, intelligent and motivated young leaders who will grow into well-balanced adults.
