As an ex-Democrat and a minority, I am struck by what I see happening in the Democratic Party. For a party that prides itself on imposing evenhandedness and minority equality on society, its leaders cannot even do so within its own limited ranks. Just study the voter makeup behind the Obama and Clinton camps. Even with recent endorsements, the two would-be nominees have clearly divided the party into a festering separation between blacks and white women. Most analysts say white men will determine the winner.
I was originally a Democrat because of upbringing. The attitude was reinforced as being the "in thing" for a native (and perhaps non-thinking) Californian. As a recovering Democrat, it did not take long to realize the fallacy that government can shape society's attitudes or impose fairness. These are only developed within the heart when society as a whole is treated evenly and no one group is treated or recognized above another.
Learn a lesson, Democrat Party: If your philosophy was correct, you should have been the example of equal opportunity. You, the government (including the courts) cannot impose equality by fiat.
