The sanctity of marriage. This is a laughable statement. In this country, over 50 percent of the population is not getting married. And 50 percent of those that do will end in divorce. That means around 25 percent of the population is getting married and staying married. Sanctity? Where?
It makes me angry when I see a Republican congressman talking about the sanctity of marriage when he's on his fourth marriage to his third mistress! The worst argument that I hear against gay marriage is that it will lessen the value of marriage. To whom? Certainly not to my wife and I. If anything that another person does can lessen the loving state of your marriage, then I feel sorry for you.
The opponents of gay marriage continue to blame "activist judges" for damaging the moral fiber of our country -- like when those "activist judges" knocked down all the segregation laws in the South, even though most of the population in those states wanted the laws.
Now they want a state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Just what we need, a nice bigoted law added to the constitution. Let's take away civil rights instead of ensuring them. I thought this was America.
