State Sen. Don Perata's decision to drop his recall campaign against state Sen. Jeff Denham is a clear admission that the effort was purely politically motivated. The recall effort is a very serious hijacking of provisions within the California Constitution meant to protect the people against acts of political fraud and malfeasance -- neither of which Denham is guilty of.
Denham was right to stand up for budget reforms last year. The recall effort is simply an effort by the liberal Democrats to remove all obstacles to imposing massive tax increases on the people of this state. Now, more than ever, we need Denham to fight to reduce rampant waste and to prevent Bay Area and Los Angeles liberals from imposing their tax and spend ways on us. With Dave Cogdill's leadership position in the Senate and-or Denham being tagged as someone who might have statewide potential, the Central Valley is finally getting its due respect in California politics. Let's not let Perata, a Bay Area senator, cut us down. Though Perata has indicated his intentions to drop the recall campaign, the issue will remain on the ballot. We have an obligation to let our voices be heard. Vote "no" on the recall of Sen. Jeff Denham.
