"City could sell property to avoid cuts" (April 29, Page B-1): The three properties are Fire Station No. 2 downtown, the old John Muir schoolhouse site on East Morris Avenue and the recreation site at Coldwell and Virginia avenues. Acting City Manager Jim Niskanen said all three properties could bring the city about $615,000.
Now. In a couple of years, these same properties will sell for millions! City Council members want to sell three properties for the price of a $600,000 home. I say hold onto these properties for the benefit of the future of Modesto. Lease them now and keep them.
