Perhaps the writer reporting Attorney General Jerry Brown's address to local lawyers ("So a lawyer walks into an arts center ..." May 3, Page B-1) was trying for humor, but what came through was a very sarcastic focus on Brown's personal and political history. So much for unbiased reporting. We talk about fostering respect for authority in our community, but this item conveyed disrespect for one of the state's highest officials who accepted an invitation to speak here. I was offended. And it did not seem funny.
