In regard to the National Day of Silence: My child attends Johansen High School. I hesitated sending my child to school because our Christian beliefs do not support this cause. I am all for protecting anyone from being taunted or bullied, but gay and lesbian people are no different than a child who is picked on because of his or her looks. This day is only a ploy by the homosexual world to get people to accept their twisted lifestyle.
My child did attend school, and I was extremely disturbed to hear that my child's English teacher chose not to speak the entire day. It is one thing for students to get involved in making statements, right or wrong, but for a teacher to make his entire class conform to his "statement" is wrong. Teachers should be neutral in these events. I send my child to school to learn, not to play these silly games.
I urge all Christians to keep your child home from school next year when this day is recognized. Maybe our high schools will get the message that not all people will participate or accept this sinful lifestyle.
