I want to respond to a story on April 4, "Official gets tough after $46,336 Lotto party" (Page B-5): State Controller John Chiang puts heat on California Lottery Director Joan Borucki to find out how she is going to pay for this party. I have one guess: We will, the taxpayers.
Al Lundeen, lottery spokesman, was asked if Borucki would pay for it herself. Lundeen said, "That's not been discussed."
It has been three weeks since the story came out; let's hope The Bee will follow up and tell the public what, if anything, has taken place. Maybe on May 20, when the lottery commission will take up the matter. But don't hold your breath. We, the public, got suckered when the politicians put this lottery on the ballot, telling us the schools would benefit. Our schools need help now!
How about starting over and getting rid of the whole group, including the commissioner. Let's start helping our children and teachers.
