What a tragic day of news! My two children and I read in disbelief the two stories of grief and loss in Tuesday's Bee. Our condolences to the family of David Cingcon and the family of Mark and Jessica Darrough.
In the instance of David Cingcon -- what a loss for all involved. If found guilty, four young men could be on their way into an already overcrowded prison system. One night's actions leave nothing but sadness and loss for five families.
On the other hand, we have a family like the Darroughs. Two people from the same family were willing to risk their own lives to save another's.
My children asked, "Mom, does stuff like this happen all the time?" My response is no, but behavior, whether good, bad or selfless, causes a result. The youth involved at the Burger King incident took a life -- and the Darroughs' actions saved one.
