My school district has one nurse for 2,700 students and six sites. She is responsible for distributing medication properly; doing a wellness newsletter; heading blood-borne pathogen and CPR workshops for the staff; maintaining paperwork and accident reports, as well as attending to the day-to-day boo-boos and owies. We have a librarian who works on campus at a county public library. She not only directs students with their research or reading projects, but also helps members of the community with their library and computer needs. We have a five-year principal who turned a school completely around. He made it a safe environment where students flourished.
We also have a new district-level employee. He determined that the high school needed after-school clubs and wanted the teachers to volunteer for them. Talk of that died down after he was asked for which club he would volunteer. He talked about "college corners" in every classroom in the district, which never transpired. He did appropriate money from the school board to take some select students to Yosemite for a few nights.
