Sitting down on a Sunday morning to leisurely read the paper is one of my favorite things to do. While reading "Faded away" (March 2, Page A-13), the tears flowed freely as I reflected on my memories of Jan Potter. Although I met Jan because of friendships with her daughters, I grew to appreciate the vibrant person that she was when I became a colleague at Denair Middle School. She was not only a caring mentor, but also an effective teacher who inspired students and staff to reach all they were capable of. Jan was not only passionate about her profession, but also about her family and her adored grandchildren. While Jan is sadly not the meticulous woman she once was because of this terrible disease, she is still remembered in this light by me and the countless others who have had the fortune to be touched by her.
