Regarding "Economic stimulus made in China" (March 2, Letters): Let's not forget the billions that we have pumped into Iraq and Afghanistan. The powers that be talk of victory in Iraq and Afghanistan; hello, there is no victory. Poppy fields in Afghanistan produce more now than before we started this thing, and we are not going to stop that. As for Iraq, the money that we have dumped was, and continues to be, wasted -- $142,000 for a girls school there and a cut in education in this country.
Our dollar is so weak that we have become Costco for the rest of the world. I hate to say it, but our system of trying to win over the rest of the world is not working. We need to come home, protect our borders, and invest in our children, schools, alternative fuels, etc. Basically we need to build our country, not countries that really don't want anything from us but money.
