I have noticed all the empty houses multiplying in my neighborhood, and also people sleeping in their cars because they were evicted with no jobs available. Neighbors are becoming fearful, shutting their doors when their previous neighbors become homeless so they won't become involved. As neighbors talk to each other about the economy's spiraling nosedive, I hear and feel the nervousness in their voices and behavior because they feel they're losing control of their world.
Everyone is blaming the homeless, disabled, the banks, the oil, welfare, immigrants, selling out to other countries, and everything except for our own greed.
No matter who's to blame, what are we going to do about it? We need to work together and help each other, because when our money is no longer any good, all we have is each other and our basic knowledge to survive and start over.
Never miss a local story.
