I have lived on Coleman Court all my life and have seen a lot of changes in our neighborhood. Our back yard faces the canal, which leads down to a small park near Nunes Drop. There have been homeless sleeping in different spots and strange things have happened on the canal when it is dark.
I have had to run off people found in the back yard of one of my rentals. Just recently I ran off a couple of homeless people who were trying to sleep in the yard of a vacant house. I found two sleeping bags between my property and my rental, along with pots and pans and large black plastic bags full of clothes. These places along the canal are hideouts, scary for me and the residents nearby. What would it take to have a dusk-to-dawn light put on the telephone pole on the canal bank? We have tried to contact the Modesto Irrigation District, but to no avail. It sure could eliminate a lot of problems. Dogs bark all night long, so we all know something is happening on that canal bank.
