"Give even if you know they do drugs" (Jan. 14, Letters) rings very true for us Christians and others who truly care about humanity. However, one must be realistic in being charitable to the wrong needs, or one becomes a part of the problem and not part of the solution.
I have fed him that was hungry, I have clothed him that was naked, but I cannot abide exacerbating his addiction. All we do by giving is to push them lower into the depths of their addictions. Until they decide to seek help to get well, all we do is to co-sign their choices.
