In response to "MJC student defends campus hoax" (Nov. 3, Page B-1) regarding Angel Padilla, who admitted to having left flowers and a note about a possible massacre on campus: I saw the flowers that were left on the stairs in front of the library and career center, and they were no small arrangement. They appeared to me as a huge and elaborate spray of greenery, something you might see at a funeral (evidently Padilla's intention). An arrangement such as that would easily cost $200-$400 or more -- and as I understand it, she delivered two such arrangements. She had gone to considerable expense to drive home her point -- or if not, how did she happen to come across such arrangements?
I can think of many more constructive ways she could have made her point, but what I find most disturbing about this incident is that not once in the article did she express any regret or apology for her actions.
Tragedies such as those at Virginia Tech are nothing to joke about. I am deeply saddened that she chose to spend her energies and resources in such a malicious manner.
