Students at California State University, Stanislaus, have been complaining for three years about the lack of parking space by the dorms. Thankfully, they decided to expand the parking lot and decided to pay for it by doubling the parking permit -- to $64 a semester.
I will be thankful for the extra parking space as much as the next person, considering that sometimes I don't get out of work until 9:30 p.m., at which time the parking lot is full, and I have to park by the gym and walk back by myself. However, during the weekends, the parking lot is barren, with plenty of parking available at all hours of the night. Was it necessary to raise all that money to build a new parking lot when half the students go home for the weekends and don't even use it?
