I had the privilege to attend my niece's wedding at Bloomingcamp in Oakdale years ago. They wanted water and an outside natural setting for their service. It was wonderful, and our county kept the revenue from the wedding, flowers, motels, caterers, etc.
I was also privileged to attend my nephew's wedding a couple of weeks ago. South Lake Tahoe received all the revenue for that wedding.
A wedding is a very special event and if we, as a county, do not offer outdoor weddings with a nature atmosphere, people will go other places. Farmers are at the mercy of nature and do not always have a bumper crop. Weddings and the bake shop were a way the Bloomingcamps supplemented their income. Isn't there some way we can provide this service to the community (outdoor weddings with water and a nature setting) and support our farmers and rental hall people? Isn't there enough to go around?
