I have been robbed of my purse twice, and have spoken to many others who have suffered the same fate, both young and old. It seems the police report only murders, gang activities and car thefts; these purse robberies are too minor to follow up on. These robberies occur in parking lots, stores and even restaurants. Also, mail is being stolen from mailboxes, and cars vandalized, and nothing is being done.
Retail sales have gone down. I am not surprised; I have not visited the mall in more than a year since my two assaults.
If the police are unable to cope with all this crime, the stores and restaurants should hire their own security guards, and pass this cost on to their customers. Something has to be done with the Christmas shopping season about to begin. We are paying taxes for police protection which seems to be practically nonexistent.
