My first-grader attends a Ceres school. As she loves learning and is a top achiever, I owe a debt of gratitude to her teachers. It is also important to recognize the Ceres Unified school board for their professionalism and commitment to providing a positive learning environment for all students that attend Ceres schools.
This being said, it is quite sad that the Ceres Unified Teachers Association seems to wage a negative political war on our school board during each election. CUTA's Political Action Committee operates on our tax dollars via union dues from teachers. Their leadership is neither elected by nor accountable to taxpayers.
Therefore, I resent having my money used to pay for their political agenda through advertising laced with propaganda, falsehoods and smears. If a given school board member isn't performing up to par, we can vote them out. We do not need CUTA telling us to vote on our dime -- which is about all that's left after taxes.
