I find myself sighing with exasperation again over the Bush administration's blatant disregard of the call of Christians to be good stewards of creation. The White House eviscerated congressional testimony given Oct. 23 by CDC scientist Dr. Julie Gerberding on the impact of climate change on health, removing specific scientific references to potential health risks.
Maybe the administration believes that it is protecting us ignoramuses from the truth, but it appears they just want to pretend that all is well and stick their collective heads in the sand. They certainly aren't thinking about leaving their great-grandchildren a livable planet. Maybe they believe that since the Second Coming is nigh, they can use and abuse what is left of the gift of creation. After all, their great-grandchildren won't be here to need it. If so, I respectfully remind them of the Scripture that says that no man knows the hour of the Second Coming, and ask in no uncertain terms that they start being good stewards of our planet.
