A couple of weeks ago, I left my house in Ceres for work in Modesto at the regular time. I thought I was going to be on time until I ran into a flooded street. I had to take an alternate route. The alternative route was also jammed with traffic, so it took me nearly 45 minutes to get to work.
When it rains in Modesto, the streets overflow with rainwater due to clogged drains, which causes traffic jams. Moreover, the excess water helps streets to break easily. This problem has been going on for years.
This problem can be fixed when we get a better rainwater drainage system or improve the one we have.
Flooding impacts us much more than we think. This is fall and heavy showers and rains are here already. Please tell the city of Modesto to do something about this.
Never miss a local story.
