A recent article (Oct. 12, Page A-3, and Oct. 14, www.modbee.com) shows how incompetent the Bush administration has run the war and our fiscal policy. The article states that the Pentagon awarded our brave soldiers bonuses to re-enlist rather than join Blackwater for higher pay. The bonuses amount to an average of $18,000 per year (for six-year re-enlistment) and $8,000 for a one-year extension. If a soldier decides to work for Blackwater, he would be paid about $120,000 per year. However, Blackwater is a Department of Defense contractor, paid by taxpayers, so the Bush administration is competing with itself by spending more money to resolve a problem it actually created.
