Much has been written about the sound in the Mary Stuart Rogers Theatre at the Gallo Center for the Arts. The performance Oct. 14 by Noche Flamenca highlighted another extraordinary feature -- the lighting. Keeping the stage dark throughout and highlighting only an exotic face, expressive raised hands, a twisting torso, or just the profiles of the four singers made the performance much more energized and meaningful. At times the light seemed to expand just as it would if the moon were rising. Wonderful!
