The Bee should be thanked for exposing the 100 top paid county employees ("$100,000 not even close here," Sept. 23, Page A-1). It should be remembered that the listed wages does not include medical benefits.
The list exposed more concern than the exorbitant wages being paid. A point in question is the 14 psychiatrists employed at the Stanislaus Behavioral Health Center. We cannot find anyone who knows what this service is or what service they provide.
The taxpayers deserve to receive a detailed explanation of the service provided by the Behavioral Health Center, from the county supervisors. They should also furnish a job description for each of the 14 psychiatrists.
We should be reminded that persons receiving pay in this list should be efficient and effective enough to not need or receive overtime pay.
Never miss a local story.
