A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who participated in the Stanislaus County Library's Sept. 20 Read for the Record event! There were 9,024 children who heard "The Story of Ferdinand" read aloud.
Nationwide, more than 250,000 children heard the story as part of the record- breaking event. More than 200 "celebrity readers" and teachers from every community joined the effort to break the Guinness World Record for reading the same book to the most children in a single day. By doing this, they emphasized that reading aloud to young children is one of the most important things parents can do to prepare their children for success in school.
Many thanks for helping to set a world record and for helping prepare our children for success.
