Dictators love their parades. Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, Khrushchev, Gaddafi ... the list goes on. The United States with all its faults whether having a Democrat or Republican in charge never felt the necessity to engage in this show of “Mine is bigger than yours.” The honored philosophy of Teddy Roosevelt, “Speak softly and carry a big stick,” was all that was needed. We didn’t need military parades.
Sadly, we now have our own despot who believes that under President Obama our military shrunk down to one tank, two missiles, three fighter jets and a tank or two. He will stand and with his tiny hands, salute and let his loyal subjects know that under him – and him alone – he has created the United States military from scratch in a short 13 months. His followers believe him. The 8-percent base core can begin lining up for this debacle, followed by the spineless Republican senators and congressmen. The rest of America can take a shower and wash off the shame.
