I travel to downtown Modesto several times per week and use the Central Modesto exit off southbound Highway 99. The exit and first intersection are strewn with trash and broken glass on both sides, truly a disgusting entry into our city.
If the city can’t clean it up, why don’t they figure out how to incentivize the many homeless folks in the area to help police the area. They probably aren’t employable, but perhaps they could get a recycling payment on how much they trash collect. They certainly scour the city for aluminum cans.
This exit isn’t the only trashy one. It is a citywide problem. We have too many citizens who don’t seem to care how we look.
