Re “Modesto pays $60,000 more in civil rights suit” (Front Page, April 25): I wonder how long it will take the city of Modesto to get a handle on its string of costly mistakes, which the citizens of Modesto have been forced to absorb again and again. This latest one will probably cost us $1 million or more before it is over. And what has happened to this officer who forced his way into the elderly lady’s residence without a search warrant? Is he still employed by the Modesto police department?
In the private sector, any employee who costs their company a large amount of money would no longer be on their payroll. I ask The Modesto Bee to investigate and report the status of this officer and what disciplinary action took place.
Gary Brockert, Modesto
Editor’s note: According to a Modesto police spokesperson, both officers involved a warrantless entry of a home are still employed with the Modesto police.
