Re “Some fashions leave black marks” (Letters, Feb. 25): I would like to first mention that fashion trends are not necessarily dictated by catty men who write letters to the newspaper. In addition, in my experience as a woman, and knowing many others, how we dress or accessorize is usually not for men’s approval. Is it possible that we want to enhance our features or make a statement to please ourselves?
While I encourage your threat of men wearing nail polish (I always recommend fighting our rigid gender paradigm), I hope you don’t expect it will have any effect on how women continue to present themselves.
