I recommend the movie “Still Alice” for anyone who knows or is caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s Disease. Julianne Moore, Kristen Stewart and the entire cast were brilliant. I watched the movie because my mother is living with this terrible disease. I have been her primary caregiver the last four years, so I appreciated the realistic portrayal of the disease in the movie.
Now that my mother is soon to be placed in an assisted living facility, I wish to thank God and the many people who have helped me in caring for her. I thank the physicians and nurses who were always sensitive and professional. I thank the paramedics and police who were always so understanding and compassionate whenever they assisted my mother in difficult situations. I also thank the many neighbors and friends who have shown care and respect for my mother when she would walk down the street or to the nearby park.
May God bless all those who provide care for their loved ones living with Alzheimer’s. There have been good days and bad days. Thank God also for the occasional funny and joyous moments.
