60 Minutes recently aired a segment about lawyers who help foreign nationals hide stolen money in the US. Each attorney was secretly filmed as part of an undercover operation. With one exception, including a former president of the American Bar Association, all but one provided info and help that would enable them to hide money.
When one attorney was asked what were the chances of being caught, he replied, “No chance ... (lawyers are) a privileged class in this country ... (who) make the laws.” This sums up what seems to be the problem at all levels of government from city to the federal level.
This lawyer’s arrogance typifies what resides in the White House, the department heads and our current Congress. Our government is totally controlled by lawyers who have set themselves up as masters of the American population. While there are good lawyers available, it would seem that only the corrupt enter government service. I believe no lawyer should be allowed to hold any public office nor be allowed to lobby.
