I grew up in a Republican household. Over the years, I have voted for many Democrats whom I felt were best qualified. This year, however, I cannot vote for either the Republican candidate or the Democrat for president. I just can’t bring myself to “vote for the lesser of two evils,” as I have been urged.
I have never voted for a third-party candidate. As a protest to the leaders of both parties, I am going to vote for Gary Johnson and his running mate Bill Weld, the Libertarian candidates. Johnson was a two-term governor of New Mexico and Weld a two-term governor of Massachusetts. Both were well-liked by constituencies; neither was involved in any scandal. They are committed to a balanced budget and limiting the power of government.
Johnson should be included in the upcoming presidential debates! If he is, I am confident he will make a strong showing at the polls.
A recent article in The Bee by Gov. Johnson should be read by all who intend to vote.
