We are experiencing grief and violence throughout the world. Senseless killing is now close to home. Perpetrators of violence are no longer confined to the battlefield. Today we are facing the slaughter of innocent people, including women and children.
We used to have laws to protect our citizens. The right to bear arms was created for the protection of family and homestead. In those days, rifles and handguns were all we had. The assault rifle was designed for the military, for combat. One person with an assault weapon can wipe out many people.
Why do we allow this to happen? What is the purpose of an assault weapon? Not for hunting; I have never heard of a hunter bringing down a buck with an assault rifle. This type of weapon is now mass produced for sale to anyone with the purchase price. This is insane, as are the people who use them. The NRA had better change its views and our political leaders must pass laws to protect all citizens.
