Re “Clinton’s ‘deplorables’ remark reveals Democrats’ contempt” (Page 3B, Sept. 14): Like all anti-Clinton renderings of her “deplorables” remarks, conservative writer Ed Rogers fails to mention that Secretary Hillary Clinton continued her speech by making it clear she was by no means applying her characterization to all Trumpiens.
He also fails to drop the other shoe in his use of that great classic film, “Man Who Would Be King” as a parallel to Secretary Clinton’s admittedly ill-considered comment. The punch line of the film is that when his subjects realize their “king” is no god, but merely a two-bit con man, they test his divinity by tossing him over a cliff. Interestingly, he is outed by a woman.
