Double homicide suspect killed in officer-involved shooting

A suspect in a double homicide on Friday in Merced County was killed a few hours later in a shooting involving Merced County sheriff’s deputies and Turlock police, officials have confirmed. Two women were found shot and killed around 8 p.m. Friday in the 11100 block of South Lander Avenue, a remote area south of Turlock near the Stevinson area, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department said. The suspect was later shot and killed around 5:20 a.m. Saturday by police and deputies near a Turlock motel in the 200 block of South Walnut Road, Turlock police spokeswoman Myra Lewis confirmed.
