    In January, the van Josie Halcon uses to transport her disabled son, Anthony De La Garza, was severly damaged by a hit-and-run driver in Empire. Members of Modesto Junior College's auto shop program, along with the help of McCoy Tires and Burnside Body Shop, helped restore the van. (Jeff Jardine and Joan Barnett Lee)
