Turlock Now: Turlock school board to vote on raises

Teachers, classified, management and more to receive 4 percent salary and benefits raises.

The Turlock Unified School District will have a special meeting Tuesday to approve salary and benefits increases and restorations for its teachers and staff.

The Board of Trustees will vote on whether to approve a 4 percent across the board increase in salary and benefits for teachers, classified staff, classified management, adult school and confidential employees, student support personnel and certified site and district administrators for the 2013-14 school year. The raises includes the restoration of a 2.5 percent salary/benefits cut from the previous fiscal year.

The district’s Head Start and State Preschool workers will receive a 1.5 percent salary/benefits increase for the new school year.

The packages for teachers, classified staff, Head Start and preschool employees were negotiated with the Turlock Teachers Association, California School Employees Association and Turlock Classified American Federation of Teachers.

The new wages and benefits will be effective retroactively to July 1, with the exception of Head Start and which will be effective Sept. 1.

The board will meet at 7 a.m. today in the Turlock Unified School District Office, Conference Room 102, 1574 E. Canal Drive.
