A Mayor’s Economic Development Task Force could soon be formed to help bolster Turlock’s business outlook.
Hoping to build on the recent success bringing the Blue Diamond processing plant to town, the Turlock City Council will discuss the creation of the task force at its meeting Tuesday night.
A staff report on new group said it would “take an active role in furthering (the city’s) economic prosperity.” It would be made up of “key stakeholders,” including business owners, economic professionals, property holders and other area residents. The task force would be advisory only, but provide periodic updates to the City Council. Members would be appointed by the mayor.
Some of its key areas of focus will be job creation and retention and collaboration with the Stanislaus Economic Development & Workforce Alliance and other area organizations. It would meet once a month starting this September.
People interested in joining the task force must apply with the city by Aug. 16.
The City Council will discuss the task force at its regular meeting starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.
